Readings:
This was one of the first pieces of writing we read. When we were first assigned this piece, it was very overwhelming and intimidating. However, after Professoressa Porcarelli suggested we highlighted the words and phrases in which we were familiar, it became easier to handle and understand. She suggested take each sentence one word at a time, and I took that advice for future readings and it was very helpful.
This reading also had a multiple reasons as to the usefulness of it. In addition to just practicing my italian reading comprehension, the content was very relevant. It is the mythology of how the seasons came to be. This is just another assignment that enlightened me on italian culture. Also as part of the assignment, I was asked to highlight the different parts of speech in the second paragraph, which was very helpful.

In addition to being one of the first reading passages we read in the semester, this reading had multiple useful qualities. It was the first dialogue we observed and also was written twice; once in the informal form and another time in the formal form. This was a great reference when I was first learning the differences between formal and informal writing/speaking.
Similar to the other readings I highlighted in this section of my quaderno, this reading was multi-purposed. It served as a way to teach the reader a very important piece of italian culture: "I Pupi Siciliani". I got to learn a lot about the history and story of marionettes, practice my reading comprehension, AND practiced identifying the subject of each sentence and then conjugating the corresponding verb.
